Cristina Balanzó, Phd

The Main Nut

Cristina is the Founder and Main Nut of Walnut Ltd.

Prior to this she was Global Head of Neuroscience at TNS from 2009, where she was responsible for pioneering the application of neuroscientific insights and methods into traditional research across all areas of expertise. Cristina has over eleven years’ experience in advertising agencies, including the position of Strategic Planner at McCann Erickson from 2004 to 2009. Cristina holds a degree in Sociology and a PhD in Communication from Ramon Llull University. Her doctoral thesis deals with improving advertising effectiveness and consumer insight using a cognitive neuroscience approach. She is also member of the Strategy and Creativity Research Group at the Ramon Llull University in Spain. She has written numerous papers and published articles on the subjects of neuromarketing and consumer insight/creativity, and is a regular speaker at industry conferences such as ESOMAR, MRS, WARC and BAQMAR…

Rafal Ohme, Phd

The NutCracker

Rafal Ohme, Nutcracker consultant.

He is a professor of psychology, expert in emotions, communication and brain research. In 1995-1996 he held the Fulbright Scholarship at Kellogg School of Management. From 1996-2003 he researched unconscious processing and emotions at Stanford University. He teaches at Renmin University in Beijing and in Poland at the Warsaw School of Social Sciences and Humanities.

He founded HUMAN Mind & Brain Applied Research Center (HMB),

a scientific company, to develop new research methods based on brain-wave analysis and reaction times. HMB licenses its methods to companies in the US, Japan, Europe and China.
He is a member of major marketing, psychological and neuroscientific associations and publishes in top scientific journals.
He wrote New Mind of Consumer (in press), Unconscious Affect (2007), Subliminal Facial Information (2003), and the trilogy Automaticity (2001, 2003, 2003).
He has been a guest speaker at seminars and workshops in over 20 countries around the world.
He is also a Board Member of Neuromarketing Science and Business Association, a new organization bringing neuroscientists and practitioners together from over 34 countries.

Andy Myers, Phd

The Ginger Nut

Andy has joined from Marketing Sciences and is our Ginger Nut

He has over 8 years’ experience in the Market Research industry, both in Australia and the UK. Andy also holds a PhD in Cognitive neuroscience where he used fMRI (functional magnetic resonance imaging) to explore the representation of body in the brain. With his industry and research experience, Andy is able to help bring together the two worlds of insight and neuroscience.

Becky Hutchins

Nuts n Bolts

Becky is a psychology graduate with an interest the way in which the workings of the brain influence our behaviour and how we make decisions. She works primarily with our Ginger Nut, Dr Andy Myers and prior to joining the Walnut team she has over 3 years’ experience at our sister agency Marketing Sciences Unlimited, working primarily in the retail and technology sector. She is familiar with using a range of online and face to face methodologies, bringing together traditional approaches with the power of consumer neuroscience.
